American Samoa consists of seven volcanic islands and two coral atolls. Six of the islands are uninhabited. Tutuila is the largest of all the islands and is home to the capital, Pago Pago.
Fagatele Bay Marine Sanctuary is home to some of the rarest tropical rainforest in the world. Its steep volcanic peaks are home to fruit bats, flying fox, seabirds and parrots, many of which are only found in this area. The coral reefs are also home to much of Samoa’s unique marine life.
American Samoa still embraces many of the traditional Polynesian values and culture. Enjoy a Samoan feast of suckling pork, chicken and fish served on banana leaf plates. When visiting some of the smaller villages it is customary to a share a ceremonial drink of kava and a fiafia.
