How long has the website been operating for?
The website has been online since February 2007 and has been growing since. We are constantly adding new sections, listings and developing new features to help visitors enjoy their stay.
How many hits does the website get?
The number of hits to the website varies everyday, but the number is growing as more listings are added. The website uses a system called Google Analytics to monitor website visitor numbers, global location, length of stay on the website, etc. The main page also includes a simple visitor counter which increments with each visit. It is common for those listing on a website to want to see evidence that thousands of people visit each day. The fact is many website visitor counters are inaccurate and can build a false impression that more people are visiting than actually are. This is the reason many larger organisations do not use visitors counters. The counter on our main page is accurate.
Can I have visitor counter on my listing?
The simple answer is no. There are 2 main reasons why we have chosen not to allow each listing to include a page counter. The first reason is that they slow the loading speed of the listing on the visitors computer. The second reason is that the information is irrelevant. The real measure of success will be the number of emails you have received, or bookings you have confirmed that have been directed to you from the website. If you feel that your listing is not achieving the results you expected then maybe there are changes that need to be made to the text or images. Maybe professional photos are needed, some more creative writing, etc. If this is the case email us with the changes and we will update the website.
Why can't I update my own listing?
Many of you who list on other websites might be use to logging into a website and making changes to your own listing content. The reason this is not the case on www.staypacificislands.com is simply because we are not a computer system that see's you as a number and source of income. We actually hardcode your information and photos manually. The reason we take this approach is so that your listing achieves the highest possible page ranking in Google and other major search engines. On many other websites your information is hidden away in a database and the search engines cannot find your details. Another reason is that we want to maintain a high level of quality of listings. If the information is not complete, details are vague, photos are poor quality, etc then we would rather leave it out.
Once I email you the details about our listing how long will it take for the listing to appear?
If it is a new listing it can generally take between 1 - 7 days for it to appear on the website. This depends heavily on the quality of the required information we receive from you. eg accommodation description, rates, list of facilities and photo's, etc. If we need to email back to clarify information or search the internet for additional information the process can take much longer. With all the correct information we can put together a listing in 2 -3 hours and have it live on the website.
What other website is www.staypacificislands.com associated with?
Currently www.staypacificislands.com is not associated with any other travel or accommodation websites. We are unbiased towards all destinations and accommodation types and try to present the website visitor with many options. Not being associated means we are free to develop new features, options and services for both visitors and listers.
Do I have to pay extra for requesting changes to my listing?
The simple answer is no. We will work with you to ensure you are happy with your listing information, photos etc. Then if you need to make additional changes at a later date just email us with the details and we will update the listing. Changes can be made very fast again depending on the information and details we are provided with.
