Rainbow Plantation - Hawaii's Big Island - Hawaiian Islands Back to the Hawaii Big Island section
Rainbow Plantation Bed & Breakfast Inn is located on a seven acre macadamia and coffee plantation on the Big Island of Hawaii. This historical, sacred Hawaiian landsite has been farmed for centuries, it is a natural, secluded, private, tropical hideaway away from traffic and surrounded by many varieties of tropical plants, flowers and organically grown fruit trees. This wild life sanctuary is a natural retreat for eco travelers, bird watchers, animal/nature lovers and guests, who seek a true Hawaiian, non-touristy, non toxic environment in which to relax and unwind.

The Fern Room is located on the ground floor of the main house, next to the Peacock Room. It is friendly and comfortable with a King size bed plus a futon bed couch. It has a private bath with soaking tub and shower and a separate entrance, cable television and a small refrigerator. The view is to Koi Ponds, gardens and forest plus it has ocean view.

The Peacock room is located on the ground floor of the main house; it has a Queen size brass bed, plus a futon bed couch inside, private bath (with soaking tub and shower), private entrance, cable television and refrigerator. A view of our koi ponds, gardens and macadamia forest can be seen from the comfort of your bed.

The upper unit in our two unit, three story 'Macadamia nut' building is called the Crow's nest. This building was remodeled in 1998 and converted from a macadamia husking building. The Crow's Nest has a large living room, also with a television and refrigerator. It has a private bathroom with soaking tub and shower and a lanai on the main floor. The romantic bedroom is on the top floor with a queen sized bed. Ocean view and view to private gardens are from the living room, bed room and private deck. The living room has one queen sized bed couch and one futon couch for additional sleeping areas.

Hale Huna (Hidden House) is a cottage in our two unit 'Macadamia Nut' building. It has a private entrance, an ohia wood lanai, a tropical bedroom with a queen size bed ,a cozy living room with a single bed couch, television and refrigerator. The private bath has a double shower. The views are to the gardens.

The Jungle Queen is our 34 foot long retired fishing cabin cruiser, which used to go out for deep sea fishing between the Oahu and the other Hawaiian Islands for large Ono, Mahi Mahi, Tuna and other game fish. In 1998 it was converted and remodeled into a cozy and comfortable, very private cottage .It has air conditioning, TV, a full shower, the V berth (bed room), state room (living room), poop deck (deck in back of the boat). Nestled on the edge of the forest it has a wonderful ocean/sunset view. Full futon beds in V berth, full bed couch in state room. The Jungle Queen is great and comfortable, but we do not recommend this unit if you are over 6'1, you weigh over 250 lbs or you have ailments or allergies.

Rainbow Plantation is a working coffee and macadamia farm. Between early September and February many rounds of Kona Coffee are harvested. Macadamia nuts drop all year but especially in the Fall. On this wild life and animal sanctuary you will find many varieties of birds, wild pheasants, turkeys, peacocks, unusual chickens, parrots, miniature horses and plump potbelly pigs; all guarded by our lovable White Labrador.
