Savusavu is located in the Cakaudrove province on the Fijian island of Vanua Levu and is a very popular visitor destination. Savusavu is often referred to as "The Hidden Paradise" of Fiji because of its sheer beauty and natural surroundings. Savusavu is fast becoming known for its eco conscious approach to the environment and offers a wide variety of activities and adventures for you to enjoy.
The area is a geo-thermal wonderland and has a number of hot springs for you to visit and explore. Or hike through the Waisale Rainforest Reserve's many trails and see some of Fijis most unique flora and fauna.
The traditional Fijian culture is very much alive and well in Savusavu making it an excellent place to learn more about the Fijian way of life. Visit a local village and watch a meke, or Fijian dance, learn about the bush medicines, tour a local working Copra (coconut plantation). Enjoy a kava ceremony with the village Chief or an impromptu local Fijian gathering around a couple of guitars on the beach.
For the more adventurous there are an endless number of activities for you to enjoy. Guided tours of the area, mountain biking, game fishing, water skiing, kayaking, snorkelling and much more. Dive operators can take you to some of the most colourful and abundant marine areas. dive with mantas, eagle rays, sea turtles, reef sharks, lion fish, painted crays, hard coral and multi coloured soft corals.
Savusavu is famous for its deep water port and is very popular with yachties as an anchorage to refuel, pick up supplies and to enjoy some time in paradise. There are a number of charter boats that operate from the marina that can take you out on a day cruise, fishing adventure or an overnight trip.
For those not looking for adventure, Savusavu is the ideal location to get away from it all, sunbathe and soak up some of the wonderfully relaxed atmosphere. Stroll around the open air market and enjoy some of the local arts, crafts and produce. Or treat yourself to a massage at a spa.
