Salt Lake Lodge - Vanua Levu

Salt Lake Lodge is a boutique eco lodge situated on the Qaloqalo salt river which feeds Fiji’s unique inland salt lake. Home of the legendary sea God Dakuwaqa. Nestled in lush tropical organic gardens your self-catering accommodations are of artistic design and have views overlooking the ever changing tides which flow from the Koro sea across the lagoon to the salt lake. There are two separate screened sleeping rooms, one with ensuite and a separate central self-catering kitchen and beach bar building which has an additional toilet and a shower.

The Kingfisher Bure sleeps four people. It is a spacious screened room with a wonderful view over the beach and colorful tropical gardens. Comfortable queen bed, a single and a loft mattress. The ensuite has solar hot water shower and eco toilet. A treetop private deck overlooks the water and the swimming pontoon.

The River Song Bure sleeps two people. It is a cute screened room in a secluded setting overlooking the water with a double bed and the private balcony bathing facilities are in the beach bar building 20 metres along the garden path.

The Beach Bar has a well equipped kitchen, gas cooker, fridge and a BBQ covered dining deck. Step down to your private beach and swimming pontoon. You can catch fish from the jetty to throw on the BBQ or go out fishing in the boat, (a 14 foot runabout with 8HP outboard motor). The Beach Bar has an eco toilet and a cold water shower. Eco toilets do not use water and are based on the clivus multrum composting design. They are comfortable to use and help to preserve our unique environment.

Boat and kayaks are available for hire. A laundry service is available and we have some basics on hand for your convenience. Fruit and vegetables and eggs in season from the farm. A few dry, canned and frozen goods. We also have cold beer and wine for sale.

Savusavu town is on Vanua Levu and has all amenities for your holiday. Airport, ferries, hire cars, doctors and hospital, banks, shops, hair and beauty salon, email cafes, etc. Scuba diving, pearl farm and copra mill tours are also available in Savusavu.

We live on five acres across the road from the lodge and can assist you to ensure you have a pleasant stay. We came to Fiji from New Zealand eight years ago and have created this slice of paradise to share with you. Languages spoken are, English, Fijian and some Danish. We look forward to your visit.
