Makaira has two accommodations only situated on their own acre offering the most privacy of any accommodation on Taveuni. Our premiere location offers tropical beauty, exclusivity, and 180 degrees of panoramic ocean views. We are the closest location to the best beaches on the island as we are nestled above and between two of the largest white sandy beaches on Taveuni., one of which offers the most privacy. Some of the best snorkeling in the world is within 100 feet from entering the calm lagoon.
Makaira specializes in affordable luxury and privacy, where you can do as little as you wish or as much as you can stand with a full time in-house Fijian staff to make sure you are comfortable throughout your stay with us.
We offer two cottages or bures, our latest addition is the Grander Suite and offers the spacious beauty and luxury one would expect to find at very high end resorts at much higher rates and the same is true for our original Marlin Bure. Both cottages include but are not limited to your own telephone and free local calls, window screens, hot water bath, towels, bath soap, beach towels, Kayak, snorkel gear and mosquito net for the romantic look, tea and coffee, CD player, portable DVD player and movies upon request,and you are welcome to any fruits on our 4 acre property for your enjoyment. They have both been designed to meet our guest’s needs and comforts to assure a happy stay with us for a few days or for a few months. We also offer Fishing and Boat charters.
