Manihiki - The island of Pearls
Manihiki - The island of Pearls

Manihiki is considered by many as the island of beautiful people. The completely enclosed lagoon provides ideal conditions for the islands biggest export, black pearls.

Accommodation on Manihiki is very limited and must be booked before arriving on the island. Flights operate between Manihiki and Rarotonga once a week so plan for a week long stay. You will need to check with Air Rarotonga for accurate dates and times. It is important to ensure you bring plenty of cash to the island as credit card facilities are not available.

There are many activities that are essential to any stay in Manihiki. Spend some time at one of the island's many pearl farms and experience first-hand the process of producing the unique black pearls. Join Tiare Lagoon Cruises for a boat trip and discover the small uninhabited motu's or islands and snorkel amongst the colourful tropical marine life. For those who want to relax, you can enjoy lazy days under a coconut tree on your own private beach.

There is a reason why Manihiki is considered one of the most beautiful in the Cook Islands group. Come and find out for yourself.
